The man in the moon is a fantasy story told to children when they’re young to invoke a sense of comfort in their hearts when the sky becomes dark, for the hope was that this idea of some greater being watching over them would alleviate the terrors that often come to small hearts during the middle of the night.
However, as children mature and develop a truer understanding of the world, this story of a higher being watching over them is lost, or dismissed, as just another fairy tale told by their parents. And yet, although I do not dwell in the moon, the face reflected upon its surface was placed there intentionally to remind those who inhabit the earth that I am always watching over them.
Then during these days when the turmoil caused by societal friction erupts like a dormant volcano across this nation, those who dwell in her lands needn’t think I have forgotten them, for My eye continues to rest upon all I have created.
Therefore, when the fires of hatred in their communities are literally burning with an intensity that seems unquenchable, let this beaming light in the night sky be set as a beacon of hope, that even when their lives are covered in darkness, I am still there. For I have yet to abandon this world or its inhabitants, as that kind of uncaring attitude is not in My nature.
Then know that the presence of turmoil in this country is not an indication of My abandonment, for even those I chose as My people early on in the Scriptures faced many challenges as a nation, and yet I remained a ‘constant’ in their midst; even though at times they turned their backs to Me.
So as My children walk through the days ahead, let them trust in Me, knowing that I am still near. For if they will consider the moon and its position in the night sky, with its smiling face that never turns away, but is continually positioned as if it is looking down upon them, then let them think of Me, for never once will the moon, nor I, for that matter, ever turn away from mankind.
Don’t think it an accident that the darkness of night is illuminated with a glowing face, for the craters of this heavenly body were configured by My hand as a reflection of the One who is always in the lives of all who call earth their home. Resist the urge to dismiss this ball of rock and dust as simply another part of the universe. For when aligning the planets, I ensured the moon would be in close enough proximity to the earth for man to see with his naked eye. And upon its surface, I engraved a permanent sign of My existence, one that has not changed over the centuries of time.
Then let this common site take on a deeper meaning for those who are looking, which is: that even in your most difficult days when I feel furthest away, I am ever-present, and continually shining over your life like a harvest moon, one so bright that the path forward can easily be seen without the need of a torch for illumination.
Therefore cast off any worries over what is to come. But when troubling thoughts are aroused in your mind, remember the light which hovers in the night sky, and let the deeper significance of its presence dispel the anxiety and fear that are waiting to overtake your heart.
