Is it still burnt offerings or sacrifices of atonement laid upon an altar? Do I still ask them to honor My name in this way? Or did My Son’s death on the Cross satisfy what the law demanded, therefore rendering these acts of contrition no longer mandatory to remain in right standing with Me?
Then what obligation are they charged with to walk uprightly before Me? If the physical acts of repentance have been met, then what is it l ask of a believer’s life? In that moment of redemption, when a man’s soul finally knows rest, is he free, then, to live as he pleases or is there more I require of him?
The answer is “yes”! Yes, a true believer can still choose how he shall spend his days without losing his salvation, for once My Son is made Savior over a life, this eternal covenant is permanently affixed to his soul. However, that being said, there is still the question of what I require of each who is chosen. Although repentance set him on the right path, it is still his decision to follow the course I have set.
But who shall choose to walk this straight road, where the command I have issued is to live as Christ? For to walk out this life as ‘the just’ means being transformed into His image, as one whose life is governed by My Kingdom statutes: those principles of morality which I established long ago.
Yet, quite a few who belong to My flock, still behave as if nothing within their hearts has changed, and so instead of being reflections of Jesus, these moreover resemble the ‘lost’ of this world, as very little about their life would say to another, “I represent Christ!”, because their words and actions do not show any signs of redemption at all.
Although, I still love these children, they have yet to fully understand what it means to live as Him, for the act of surrendering themselves to My will is, for many, too big a cost. For this straight and even road constrains a person to conform to My will, yet it’s this sure path which is the very reason I have ordered his steps, as it keeps his life securely in alignment with the plan I have spoken and established.
Since this road is distinct to believers, its unique design does not look anything like those cut by man, and is the reason My chosen stand out in this world. For who on their own would walk such a humble road? Then again, who would say without Holy Spirit’s prompting that, “I am going to surrender my life all for the cause of Christ”, unless there was a promise of something better?
However, a better life and a better future can only be born when My children choose the better road: the one which embraces My ways and follows My precepts. For this “better” can only be found by those who intentionally deny themselves, then gladly agrees with My terms and conditions, producing the thoughts and behaviors which align with those of their Savior, for He was the living embodiment of the Father above.
So while My love is unconditional towards My children, a relationship with Me includes more than simply receiving salvation, as it involves an exchange where believers choose to lay down their own life in pursuit of a higher calling, one that was predestined for each of them.
However, to walk this path requires giving up their old way of thinking and behaving until who they are no longer resembles their former self, but is clothed in the image of My Son, becoming a reflection of His very nature. This is what is required to walk as a child of God: that you become the living embodiment of Him, the One who bore witness of My Kingdom through the compassion and mercy He showed to other men.
So go and do likewise, for this is the charge each has been given. Walk, therefore, as He did while on the earth.
“With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?” He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”-Micah 6:6-8
