The Lie Of “I Can’t”

A believer should have a positive confession of "I can" not The Lie of "I Can"t" | My Daily Letters - MDL

The phrase “I can’t…” is spoken by those who characteristically assess their circumstances with their natural eyes. It is said by those who have compared their physical ability to the need of the moment, and who consider themselves sadly lacking. For within this mode of thinking, man is relying upon his own limitations to determine how he will live his life.

Yet there are moments within his days where he valiantly responds to challenges that come along, pressing the boundaries of what he thinks is possible, where his own capabilities are stretched. But this out-of-character behavior usually rises when a person is under extreme duress. For unless he is pushed, a man’s life will remain where he feels comfortable and at ease.

However, this is not the walk I have planned for My children. I have, instead, laid an exceptional path before each of them, one filled with miraculous events and extraordinary encounters, where they can witness My supernatural power course through their lives.

But since I am a considerate Father, My children are never forced to push the boundaries of our relationship. Therefore, if My Spirit prods a believer to step past his own limitations, and push through the wall of “I can’t…”, then a believer should consider these as teachable moments, where he or she is being taught how to rely on the strength of My Spirit instead of their own. Since Our criteria is the development of the ‘inner man’, this is where a believer is schooled on what it means to live from the inside out. For this reason, those who are willing are put through this spiritual training so that reliance on their ‘outer man’ sensibilities are lessened, and the ‘inner man’ becomes the dominant nature of the two. Once a believer learns to disregard their own physical need, where they push past fatigue and comfort just to spend more time with Me, then this eager student shall be duly rewarded for their efforts.

Although I am not satisfied to leave them just as they are, this decision is left up to each of My children. However, if I ask one, or maybe a few, to rise early in the morning to meet with Me, even when they’ve known very little sleep, know that I’ve built within the response to this simple request the opportunity to break free from the lie of “I can’t…”. This repositioning in thinking leads those who heed My call to a higher thought life, where their perception changes to that of an overcomer, having denied the words of their flesh, making the choice instead to stand from the position of their ‘inner man’.The faith of believers is meant to be strengthened by challenges and break off The Life of "I Can't" | My Daily Letters - MDL

Then let those who desire an exceptional journey remain determined in their hearts to break off this lie of “I can’t…” from anywhere it may still be lingering around. For thoughts like these come from immature thinking, those parts of a believer’s heart where freedom and faith have yet to abound.

Therefore let these speak out this positive confession whenever the lie of “I can’t…” is aroused; say: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!”. For if they really believe this statement as Truth, then let their thoughts and actions come into agreement with it, where how they live looks nothing like that of an ordinary man.

It is My desire to have a people who walk with an uncommon gait, whose steps are so lively and filled with faith, that those around them (even some believers) are caught off guard by their boldness. Yet, this kind of fearless canter is only developed in those of My own who refuse to believe “I can’t…” is their portion, and who see themselves as “…more than conquerors…”. They, in turn, have discovered that the way to actually live out these words is by relying on the strength of their ‘inner man’ as a weapon against the lie of “I can’t…”!

Then to those who are already in pursuit of this lifestyle, be aware that the lie of “I can’t…” rests in all of My children, and shall show itself in many forms. This is why you must keep a watchful eye on your thoughts and look closely at your actions. For until the relationship with “I can’t…” is broken off, your first inclination when I bring challenges along the path of our journey will be to rely on your own capabilities as the means to resolve the current issue of the day.

Therefore, take notice of thoughts meant to deter your progress, since forward is always the direction I am headed. If, at times, I may ask you to wait, you must discern that even here dwells the lie of “I can’t…”, for it will always go against steps of faith; whether that step is standing still or climbing a hill, this lie is spoken in a believer’s ear to halt their inner growth and maturity.

Say “No!” to this lie when you hear it, for this is only the enemy using the weakness of your flesh to prevent you from becoming the mighty warrior I designed you to be; one who moves so powerfully in My strength, that even a large throng of evil troops is outmatched. Recognize that these challenges are meant to strengthen your ‘inner man’, then see the dependency on your own capabilities diminish and the lie of “I can’t…” traded in for the truth of “I can!”

“Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” 1 John 5:5
