“I have written My word upon your heart, like a stone tablet, I have inscribed it. Written permanently on the layers of your life (as if in indelible ink) so it cannot be erased, nor is it able to be forgotten, or removed. Once I have placed it there, it will never go away. My words spoken to you are eternal words, they don’t just last a moment or a lifetime, but for eternity.”
I know this post is much shorter than the Letters I usually put up, but this word holds a special place in my heart because it is the very first one I ever received like this from the Lord.
Even though it was two years ago to the day, I remember it like it was yesterday. I had gotten off work later than usual because my last client of the day was considering abortion. When you work at a crisis pregnancy center, if a young woman comes in with this frame of mind, you don’t ask them to come back the next day, you stay even if it means being there after closing time; which wouldn’t have normally bothered me, but I had a video lecture to watch for my Bible college class the next morning and was already drained. Needless to say, when I did make it home, I was in no mood to stay up any longer than necessary.
But God ….
“Stay up a little longer and spend time with Me”, I heard Him say. I just wanted to turn in and close my eyes, yet the Lord kept pressing my heart to come away into His presence. I listened and heard Him share these amazing words with me. Amazing not because they revealed a profound new truth, but that I could actually hear Him speak. Not my voice, but His. He spoke to me over several journal pages of the plans He had for my future, as well. I was stunned. Never before had I experienced God in this way.
And now, that simple act of obedience has turned into something I couldn’t have imagined. Every morning since receiving this first word, when I wake up, the Lord is there waiting for me, ready to share something new: whether it’s deeper insight about Himself or words of hope, it is all meant to be a source of encouragement. More recently, our time together has expanded from “Letters” to the Body of Christ and those seeking direction for their life, to include some prophetic words and directives for specific individuals, some half a world away.
I am still astonished that He chose to relate to me, and through me, in this way. The Letters He has given me for this Blog are a deeper and more complex writing form and content than I could ever do on my own, and the words of encouragement and direction He’s given me for specific people and acquaintances have been confirmed by those who have received them…letting me know that this gift is from God Himself.
So as you read what is written on the pages of “My Daily Letters”, I am trusting that you’ll find just the right words of Hope to bring you Encouragement and Love….exactly what God wants for His children.
